08:24 AM ET 09.05 | At long last? Even as the NHL's regular season remains shrouded in uncertainty with the threat of a lockout, the long-awaited sale of the Phoenix Coyotes is actually coming more clearly into focus. A source confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday evening that suitor Greg Jamison, the former president and CEO of the San Jose Sharks, has finally arranged financing that would allow him to purchase the team from the National Hockey League for $170 million, and that any issues with the lease agreement between the City of Glendale and Jamison's investors for Jobing.com Arena, where the Coyotes play, are expected to be resolved by the end of September. Among the investors, who have to this point remained unidentified, are some members of the Ice Edge Group.

I had to look b/c I wasn't sure but QC is in Quebec which is in Canada. Since when do they play hockey in Canada?

Many Canadians would wish to debate that point, sir.

As of yesterday's election, you can kiss the dream of a team in QC buh-bye.

Betcha Doan gets a % of the ownership. Hence the delays.

well....it depends on which city you mean and what level of hockey you refer to

Yep. They want to be their own independent People's Democratic Republic of Quebec. And .... from what I hear .... many Canadians are willing to throw Newfoundland into the mix for free to make it happen. Apparently, they're sick and tired of funneling obscene amounts of money from the rest of the country to support this welfare child that's always crying for more.

????????????????????

So, if he buys the team and there is a lockout, won't he immediately start to lose money without any game revenue coming in?

Actually, he'll be saving money if they don't play. He won't have to pay anybody for a while.

And we will just be adding to the $240m the league already lost these past 2 seasons

Love the new avatar by the way

Yea, but he has all these loans outstanding and no income from the team. Will the league provide assistance to keep him from defaulting? I'm just curious.

Well, of course they will.

Which will make the league finances worse and they will ask the players to reduce their salaries even more to make up for poor managerial decisions. I get it now. Very cunning plan on their part.

LOL - Actually I forget; however, I'm sure sporting a Monster avatar would be more distasteful to me as Leighton would be to you. Correct?

I think it's more of a stunt. A cunning stunt but still a stunt.
