One big factor in Peterson decision

08:04 AM ET 09.06 | The Vikings may insist no decision will be made on Adrian Peterson until Sunday morning. But what the star running back, who had left knee surgery nine months ago, is able to show in practice this week will go a long way toward influencing that decision. Coach Leslie Frazier cleared Peterson for full contact Wednesday and Thursday, wanting to see how Peterson responds to the contact, both while it's happening and when the day is done. "We're going to try to give him as much as we can," Frazier said. "We've got a few plays designed for him in practice. And we'll see how he responds." ... The official injury report said Peterson was limited at practice.

geez...who cares?

Even with Adrian Peterson, this is a dismal, last-in-their-division team.

Without Adrian Peterson, this is a dismal, last-in-their-division team with a serious shot at the #1 pick.

I think that's why they're trying to rush him back....

To keep fans in the seats.

Vikings fans, the organization, people watching the games, people with him on their fantasy rosters, sponsors, advertisers...

What are the fans going to do? Might not have hockey. The T-wolves aren't going to do much. The Twins - LOL!! How many more months till ice fishing?

I'm extremely biased, but the team could surprise a lot of people. The defense was better than people think last season. They struggles late in games because the offense was so inept that they tired out after being on the field all game. If Christian Ponder improves (I now that that's a HUGE "if") and they find a true number one receiver, they could do well. People forget that they had good leads on teams in the first half only to blow the games down the stretch. I'm not saying that they'll be great, by any means, just that they shouldn't be the pushover everyone expects. If they are, Leslie Frazier and Christian Ponder BOTH need to go.

If Rubio and Love stay healthy, the Timberwolves are a playoff team.

Totally possible he can play, Mendenhall looks like he will play on Sunday, after ACL surgery in January, anything is possible.

Yeah, maybe, but the key word here is "surprise." It's not expected.

Still, I'd be happy if they "surprise" some teams. It's why they play the games, and it's why we watch. It's a great day for the NFL every time a downtrodden team rises up and makes a statement.

Get your franchise player completely well before playing him even if it is two or three weeks down the road because there is no playoffs plans in Minnesota this year anyway.

Looks like you got it all figured it eh?

Vikes have a few things in their favor. First, they're playing a team that may stink even worse than they do. Second, Ponder may very well be the real deal. Third, MJD won't play much. Fourth, Harvin is great. He can score a lot of points in a lot of different ways. Should be interesting.
