08:08 AM ET 09.06 | Well, Tom Thibodeau has certainly made a good impression on Chicago. Chicago Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and [Thibodeau] have resumed negotiations about a contract extension for Thibodeau, according to a source familiar with the situation. The Bulls picked up Thibodeau's option for the 2012-13 season after last season. General manager Gar Forman repeatedly has stated that it is the organization's intention to lock up Thibodeau for the long term, even though talks stalled earlier in the summer. Thibodeau, who won 100 games faster than any coach in NBA history, was hired two summers ago after serving as an assistant for the Boston Celtics under Doc Rivers. The Bulls have led the league in regular-season wins both years.

I think you sign him no matter what. He could help develop young players or veterans. He's a great coach.

Agreed.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in charge of the Magic's sidelines, honestly.

Agreed. I think Vaugn will be the man for the next couple of years though. Hope for another diamond in the rough there.

I'm willing to give him a chance. After all, it was the Magic that produced Doc Rivers as a coach, so who knows?

In the words of Eddie KGB from "Rounders" .... "Pay that man, pay that man his money" .... T.T. has done a hell of a job in spite of the team he's been dealt. Still don't think they were smart as an organization the way they played D. Rose last year, but the one thing I'm pretty sure of is that they won't be making that mistake again.

QUOTE(#18):

sometimes a REALLY good coach can't get a team over the hump.....

Exactly. But bad coaching will definately keep a good 'team' from getting over.

Bottom line.....and good team also needs a good coach to properly direct/guide it. Also, only a good/great coach will have the credibility to maintain the respect of the players while keeping their big egos in check!

Thibs can do those things.
