MSU's Bell poised for record-setting season?

08:16 AM ET 09.06 | Le'Veon Bell, though he later said he felt like he touched the ball 30 times in Michigan State's opener, actually touched it 50 times, including 44 carries. [Let's] face it, this is going to be Bell's show and he is going to dominate carries like no MSU back since Javon Ringer in 2008. ... Asked for an ideal carries number for Bell in a game, Dantonio joked: "Until he gets a flat, I guess." ... If the Spartans play 14 games -- which would include the Big Ten title game -- Bell would need to average 28.9 carries to edge [Lorenzo White's 1985 record of 419]. That would also be exactly 30 carries a game overall. I'm guessing he'll come up a bit short, but he'll almost certainly knock Eric Allen (259 carries in 1971) out of the top 10.

For Whom The Bell Tolls, Bro?

Just based on one game, if Sparty is going to win the B1G they will need him to touch the ball about 50 times a game. He is going to spend alot of time in the hot tub.

Boise isn't near the team they have been the past couple of years IMHO. Sparty better not base things on that game. Bell does look like the real deal.

Bell did look good last week, but if thats all they got then it should be an easy win for the Irish.

IMO, the D's in the B1G won't be better than the Boise D, I think Boise's biggest drop off was in the offense, the D still didn't look to bad.

They did play hard...but Boise's d-line seemed much smaller. May not have been, but looked that way.

They used him that much because they needed him to do so. It didn't look like much else was working. If they have to rely on him like that for the rest of the year, the downfall if he is injured will be huge.

I believe you are correct sir....

+1. Dantonio may be exposing a weakness in the Sparty offense with that much reliance on the ground game. Sparty's QB (Maxwell) was an ordinary 22/38 (58%) for 248 yards. The telling stat was the 3 interceptions he gave up to BSU.

I believe you are also correct sir.....

Hmm... Maybe the Vols could beat them in a Bowl game. Of course, that would mean some other B1G team goes to Pasadena.
