Leyland's last days in Detroit?

08:15 AM ET 09.07 | Have Jim Leyland and the Tigers reached a seven-year itch? A feeling has been building for a few weeks now, spurred by a team's back-and-forth ways, its crushing one-run losses, its inability to revive a half-dozen hitters who somehow have managed to shoot duds for 130 games, that these could be his waning weeks in Detroit. If it happens, the manager will have made the call. He will decide ahead of his bosses that it's time for a new face in the manager's chair. Leyland has always said as much. "No one will have to show me the door," he has said, many times, publicly and privately. "I'll know when it's time." If the Tigers miss the playoffs, it could be time.

Jimmy looks a little tired and might be getting bored, who knows? He's looked that way all his life!

With that lineup and that pitching staff they should be better.....very surprising for a Jim Leyland team...

I agree with the article and number 1 on both accounts. I think he would like to go back to the NL and manage real baseball .

BWAHAHAHA! Real baseball? Look, I prefer having the DH in the AL and no DH in the NL... and I'm not a fan of interleague play.... but to call the NL "real baseball" is laughable. It's definitely "real boring."
Anyhow, I would hate to see Jimmy go, but if it can be amicable and on his terms, thanks for the memories dude.

Mr. Tiger you must not enjoy watching strategy being played out. How can you call the NL boring when the DH has only been around since 73 and both leagues were playing real baseball for years before that.

The DH takes alot of the strategy out of the game. I much prefer the NL.

Thank you.
I can appreciate the NL version of the game -- hence why I want to keep a DH and a DH-less league setup -- but I much prefer the AL, personally. People who enjoy the "old fashioned" version of the game still get to have their NL. Everyone is happy.
