09:34 AM ET 09.08 | MLB Network's Peter Gammons, the dean of baseball information men, expects front office fallout following this dreadful Marlins season. Gammons e-mailed that "the feeling throughout the organization and in the general managers circle is that Marlins ownership will re-assign [president/baseball operations] Larry Beinfest and replace him with longtime aide Dan Jennings." Gammons added that "Beinfest carries a great deal of respect throughout the game and gets universal credit for holding the Marlins organization together for the last decade." Owner Jeffrey Loria declined to discuss Beinfest's job security last week, claiming the question was "not fair." Club sources won't be surprised if Beinfest is demoted, but we hear mixed opinion on who would be the likely successor. One team official believes there's a good chance Loria will turn not to Jennings, but to general manager Michael Hill, who is directly below Beinfest in the current hierarchy. But another team source said Jennings makes sense because he always has had Loria's ear.

If you make as many moves as the Marlins did and still play like crap, somebody has to lose his job.

This is one organization that needs to bring in someone from outside the organization.
What they've been doing for the last decade or so is not working.

Do fire sales count as positive moves? This franchise makes more roster moves than a A-level minor league team.

Depends on what you think the goal is; if it is to make money for the owner, the franchise is working fine. If it is to play well enough once in a while to tempt the fans to continue buying tickets, then it is working fine. If the goal was to put a consistently competitive team on the field, then their plan has been a total failure.
As far as Beinfest goes, he has done precisely what the owner wants, but he might be sacrificed to fool the fans into thinking something different will happen next year.

The goal SHOULD be to win. If you win, you'll make money too.

wiseup: the ownershipcan't be blamed for skimping on payroll. However I'm not surewho decision it was to give up a coulpe of good prospects to get an over the hill Carlos LeeWho has seen his better days. Lee was not that productive at Houston. Houston got the better end of that deal. With The money Miami spent on free agents, the Marlins greatly underperformed. Ozzie guillen will join Beinfest looking for work.
