09:40 AM ET 09.08 | Hard Knocks' series on the Dolphins was exceptional, but a longtime network executive who has been involved in the show cautioned that in general, a lot of good material frequently gets left on the editing room floor because NFL Films does not want to make a team look bad -- especially the coaching staff or management, so as not to discourage other teams from appearing. The same level of courtesy generally is not extended to players, and several Dolphins were embarrassed by the negative attention.

don't make the coaches look bad but its ok to embarrass the players. hmmmm do ya think that's why teams really don't do well in the fall after being in hard knocks in the summer?

Complete and total B S If Hard Knocks was really interested, they would have filmed the players bailing out on each other and signing that horrendous agreement that reduced their share of the revenue and increased their work load. There is a reason why some people should never be allowed to vote on anything

The Show and the Owner who Participates says a Lot about how bad an organization is run, da Jets and Dolphins will continue to be the laughing stock of the League! I think Bob Craft actually pays HBO to keep those Clowns on the Show!

One team that was on "Hard Knocks" went to the AFC Championship game after being the focus of the show. How was that not doing well?
You know, the team Mangler comments on when they are the focus of a story here.

Moral of the story: Don't do anything stupid when the practice facility is crawling with cameras.
I have little sympathy for the players.

Maybe that is the plan--try to look even worse than they really are, so that they can surprise someone and win a game or two.
