10:56 AM ET 09.08 | Tomas Holmstrom is biding his time, uncertain what he wants to do next, even as the numbers indicate he has little chance of signing with the Detroit Red Wings. "I have not decided what I'm going to do," Holmstrom said today. Holmstrom finished a two-year deal last season, leaving him an unrestricted free agent. His best friend, fellow Swede and longtime teammate, Nicklas Lidstrom, retired in May. Where Lidstrom left with a calm conscience, knowing that it was the right decision for him, Holmstrom is unconvinced about which path to take. "I will take my time," he said.

Once he wasn't allowed, by the refs, to stick his behind in front of the goaltender, his poor puck handling, and slow afoot, showed hence his drop in value to the team.

I know Holmstrom has been around for awhile but I think he was close to turning 40. That doesn't help his value either.

Yeah he got some reputation calls against him when he in fact did NOT touch the tender with his behind......time to hang 'em up Holmstrom...you were the best at those kind of deflections...now the heir apparent is Big Buff.

If he could, he would've been signed to a long term contract already.

Homer, we all love ya and it's time to retire. Holland isn't going to offer him anything over 4 minutes every other game. Follow lidstrom and retire before you get embarrassed. The zebras are all over you now so you'll spend 2 of your 4 minutes a game in the box.

I'm sure IKEA is holding a spot for him somewhere.
