09:16 AM ET 09.09 | The Knicks' reunion with Marcus Camby almost never happened. The veteran center, who signed a three-year contract in July, admitted his return to Madison Square Garden after an 11-year hiatus should be credited to a last-minute phone call from one of his former Knicks teammates. "I was on my way to Miami, about to go to the airport to go to Miami when I got the call from Allan [Houston]," Camby said. "I played with Allan for four years in New York, and he was like, 'Just come, sit down and have a meeting with us.' So I took the meeting with him and Coach [Mike Woodson] and they pretty much talked me out of going down to Miami to take that visit."

if he wasn't 458 years old and if we didn't have to commit 3 years to him- I'd be thrilledbut he is and we did......so.......

Just all around bad news with the Knicks these days.
Be thankful, if Isiah was involved he would have gotten a 5 year deal

Would have been a very good fit in Miami

the contracts for Camby and Kidd are so low im sure part of the thought process was preparing for a buy out situation. Either way between Camby and Kurt you got 12 extremely hard fouls to giver every game.

The Knicks will fail this winter, because Amare and Carmelo both are ball hogs, and there's only one ball during the game.

there is no reason why NY shouldn't be a good team this year and be a top 4-5 eastern team and compete in the playoffs-

Isn't that the same thing you guys been saying the past 2-3 years? :-)

"between Camby and Kurt you got hard fouls to give every game"...........and that my friend is more than I can say for "Stat". You also have rebounding and scoring from both, in addition to that you have a very effective FT shooter in Kurt, excellent shot blocker in Camby. These two came very cheap and even at a combined age of 78 seem to be a bit better than Stat at 29, true but very sad. I believe the 15min apeice combined are better than Stat's 30min. People act like the Knicks have all this cap space so they could pick and choose who the want to sign. Thats not the case by any stretch. I think they did very well with these signings all things considered. It could've been a lot worse for us!
