10:23 AM ET 09.09 | In an interview with CSNPhilly.com Phillies Insider, Jim Salisbury, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Charlie Manuel will return for a ninth season in 2013. Already the winningest manager in franchise history and one of just two skippers to win a World Series for the Phillies, Manuel will have managed more games for the Phillies than anyone else early next season. But will the 2013 season be Manuel's last? Manuel is headed into the final year of his contract and when he agreed to the deal prior to the 2011 season, the manager said he will evaluate how things are going before he decides on his next step. Headed into the last year of his contract, that has not changed. Manuel is not focused on retirement. "I want to see where I'm at," Manuel said. "I'm not going to ever tell anyone I'm retiring, because I don't know."

wiseup: This year was an off year because of the injuries of Utley and Howard . The phillies dug themselves into a big hole that with the return of Utley and Howard and they started playing a lot better but toolate to make playoffs. The phillies are getting long in the tooth. Players like Rollins ,Utley, Polanco, Halliday ,Lee, Pierre, all are 35 or older. Charlie Manuel isn't getting any younger. I think Charlie is seeing his aging team, and wants no part of the abusive phickle phillie phans during down years while phillies reload.

wiseup I think Manuel will stay in Philly as long as he wants the job. I think 2013 will be manuels last. Other managers looking for jobs after this year will be B. Valentine, Eric Wedge Of SeattleManny Acvta Of Clev. Ozzie Guillen Of Miami, Jim Tracey Of Colorado. If Pittsburg Finishes Below .500 I could see Clint Hurdle being let go. The pirates Are strange. Before the All-star break the pirates were challenging for first place in NL Cenral. McCuhen was hitting .375 or around there the first half Since All-star game he has slump down to.341 to.345 and the pirates have spiraled down accordingly. As mcCuthen goes so goes the pirates. As fo the Cubs They should Keep Sveum and fire the Cubs.
