Weeden on the path to shell-shocked

08:01 AM ET 09.10 | According to one scout, the issues with the Browns, who lost by a point Sunday to Philadelphia, run deep. "The QB situation is not good in Cleveland. The running back (Trent Richardson) is damaged goods. The (offensive) line is horrible. (C Alex) Mack is not bad, but the two guards are not very good and the other tackle is bad. All they have is (OLT) Joe Thomas. (Jason) Pinkston is terrible -- he is just a guy. I gave him a free-agent grade coming out. (WR Josh) Gordon flashes, but he is a train wreck waiting to happen. (QB Brandon) Weeden will be like David Carr in three years -- he'll be shell-shocked and unable to recover from it. He was that way at Oklahoma State."

And with all that going for them, the Eagles only beat them by 1 point.

Just "one" scout thinks that?

September 10, 2012  08:09 AM ET

They were in it until the end despite turnovers and all the above mentioned problems.

With a QB rating of 5, it's hard to get worse.

September 10, 2012  08:13 AM ET

Look on the bright side. They're tied with the Steelers for the lead in the AFC North, for a few more hours until the rest of the teams play.

And with all these issues they almost beat the iggles...

September 10, 2012  08:18 AM ET

So let me get this straight. It almost sounds like the article is saying that it would be better to start Colt McCoy over Brandon Weeden. That can't be right.

As I recall, Weeden had that deer-in-the-headlights look at the NFL Draft.

The scouting reports said he had that look in college as well. I think it's his War Face.

And on the other end of the rookie QB starting his first game, you've got the gentleman from Washington. That was impressive.

September 10, 2012  08:35 AM ET

If he was that way at Oklahoma State then how did he get drafted?

Shanny started the game playing to his strengths. Shotgun, short passes, get comfortable, them BOOM....Garcon!!!

And since we've gotten bored with taking pot shots at Weeden and the Browns and are talking about QB's who needed to prove something yesterday: How 'bout Petyon?

September 10, 2012  08:51 AM ET

Philly really put it to him!!!
