Forte's new beef with Bears

08:06 AM ET 09.10 | Bears running back Matt Forte still didn't seem happy after Week 1 -- even after he earned his long-awaited new contract. But it was more about what Forte didn't get: goal-line carries that resulted in Michael Bush scoring two one-yard touchdowns in the Bears' 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Soldier Field. "It's been happening my whole career here, so I don't know," Forte said when asked about not finishing drives. "That's the coordinator's call." The one drive that stood out was in the first quarter, when Forte had a 32-yard run to jump-start the offense. Five plays later, he ran 15 yards to the 1-yard line. In came Bush, who ran for no gain on first down before plunging across the goal line on second down.

So, uh, where's the beef? Does he have an incentive-laden contract that includes touchdowns scored? If so, yeah, that's a problem. Otherwise, be happy being the #1 back and getting a lot of yards.

Once upon a time when a player gets you to the 1 yard line, you tried to give him a chance to finish off the drive and score. With today's incentive laden contracts and high price free agents who are added to the team, that doesn't happen any more. If I check the scores, however, the Bears did win.

The Pats let Ridley carry on in yesterday. He had a great game.

When I looked at the box score, that was the first thing I noticed. Not surprised that Forte is upset. Bears should have let him finish - a happy running back is a productive running back.

I'm starting to think that this guy can never be happy... Or that the media never catches him in a happy moment.

he spent all of his whining currency on his contract and now no longer has the benefit of the doubt when he's found to STILL be whining....even if his complaint is legit...it's almost like he got an incentive laden contract but pissed off mgmt so they will actively hinder him from reaching his incentive threshholds...

Forte has ALWAYS had trouble scoring in the red zone. You got your contract, now be a team player. Bush looked good yesterday.

Didn't sound like Forte had a beef...he just answered the questions....media blowing stuff out if proportion....

The Lions used to have goal line backs for Barry Sanders, and Barry never complained. Emmitt Smith would rack up 15-20 touchdowns a year b/c he got all the goal line carries, and Barry would still end up with 10-15, but they all had to come on longer runs.
