Kronwall: Time for Red Wings to step up

08:23 AM ET 09.10 | On paper, Detroit has been weakened by the retirement of Nicklas Lidstrom and the departure of Brad Stuart, which might have some wondering how Mike Babcock's team will win games. Defenseman Niklas Kronwall has one theory on how they will do it. "The rest of us, we're going to have to take a step in the right direction and step up our own game," Kronwall said. "Try to elevate our game to the next level and, hopefully, we can be just fine." Like Babcock, Kronwall figures that Holland will find a way to keep the Wings competitive. "When the season starts, we know that the organization always puts a team (on) that can compete for a Stanley Cup," Kronwall said. "If there's things that need to be made, Kenny's going to make that happen."

I hardly seereporting what Kronwall said as "Truth or Rumor." Now, if he had said something like, "We have no one to step uip, that would be 'truth.'" If he had said, "We are going to bring back GHordie Howe, Stevie Y, Red Kelly, and Terry Sawchuk, that would be 'rumor.'"
