08:12 AM ET 09.11 | James Harden may not see the payday that came to Serge Ibaka in Oklahoma City. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Ibaka are all under contract beyond next season. So, what about Harden? "James is somebody we value," [Sam Presti] said Monday afternoon. "We think he's an important part to what we're trying to do with our team and we're hopeful that he'll be with us." No doubt about that. Harden is super talented, a rare combination of shooter, slasher and distributor. His offensive skills provide an amazing complement to those of Durant and Westbrook. "By the same token, we've been very upfront and transparent with everybody that we have some inherent challenges that we face as an organization as a result of the new collective bargaining agreement."

Exactly.
Ibaka is just a more athletic Perk and is a bit better than Joel offensively.
Case in point the thunder need a center like a Kaman....IMO
One that can score, post up, get boards and hit the mid range jumper consistently.

Perk will get destroyed by a healthy dwight. He moves way to slow for OK and defending someone like Dwight.

An earlier thread about his same thing showed the $$ OKC would pay if Harden were to be re-sgined (it was estimated at $12.5mil/yr). OKC wouild be over the lux-tax limit by a min of $15mil each year, so with repeat offender penalties they could pay $30mil per year in penalties. So, it is a big decison for OKC, given they are small market.
Sign Harden now before the Oct 31st deadline, and then trade later.

Yea they simpy wont be able to match an offer from a team who has space, someone who needs a two guard will put up max money to get this guy and he will be gone. Will he stick around and be the third best player on a team and take significantly less money? Thunder fans better hope so. People talking about Perkins should know that he has nothing to do with this, even if they do get rid of him they still won't have enough to match offers for Harden

The difference between the Lakers and all the other teams in the league, "spend more money." The cost it will take to keep Harden will cripple Oklahoma, once Harden become unrestricted; he's gone.

i have 2 agree, especially when the alternative is keeping a guard, which we all know there is no shortage of in the league.
