Ohio State quarterback Robby Schoenhoft will transfer to Deleware, according to ESPN. The move could play a role in Terrelle Pryor's recruitment. With Schoenhoft gone, the Buckeyes look closer to capitalizing on Ohio State coach Jim Tressel's promise to design the offense around a dual-threat quarterback.

If ya can't beat em', join em'! Good luck sweater boy......

So when will FLA start trying to be more like Michigan G8R? :)

good one truth.....i guess this guy thinks florida was the 1st team to have a dual threat quarterback...i seem to remember a nebraska team witha dual threat qb drilling florida awhile back as well as a charlie ward led fsu squad.

"the Buckeyes look closer to capitalizing on Ohio State coach Jim Tressel's promise to design the offense around a dual-threat quarterback."

It seemed to work well with Troy Smith, at least until his OL crumbled in the NC game.

Seriously, how could this work? Reconfiguring your whole offensive system around for one player? I honestly have my doubts about this rumor. Even if you did this, it would take a while for things to transition.

The TRUTH pronounces this rumor to be CRAP

I think when he was saying "if you can't beat em, join em", he was referring to Ohio State losing to Illionois, Florida, and LSU. And don't forget Michigan will be going to a daul-threat QB too.

January 14, 2008  11:08 AM ET

Jim Tressel has seen the offensive light the last two years. LSU and Florida have shown OSU by demonstation and with the new Rich Rod style, the Big 10 apparently will open up like the SEC.

Tressel said LSU's offense was so mulitple and confusing that his team was sort of confused as to who to cover sometimes That is why the Tight End was open so much.

Gooo LSU Tigers

I think OSU has a spread l"ike" offense in the book, but with Henton as the #2 and the recruiting of Pryor, they probably just want to expand on that. Smith's junior year he ran more of a spread threat than his senior year, but either way, its about time the Bucks put to the "three yards and a cloud of dust" ideal...God Bless Woody and Bo, but times have changed, either adapt or get left behind....

January 14, 2008  11:45 AM ET

Also here is my question, why are we getting OSU news from the Detroit Free Press? Isnt this the same paper that swore up and down that Les Miles was the Michigan coach?

January 14, 2008  12:08 PM ET

Excellent point my numerical friend!

January 14, 2008  12:16 PM ET

OSU and Mich were two of the few powerhouses running traditional offenses. Sometimes it looks boring, especially compared to spread, but I hope they don't abandon the power game completely. Beenie Wells is ideal in the power set, but showed he has speed in the NC.

January 14, 2008  12:22 PM ET

I think teams will basically have a menu of options to fit the situation. Think about all of the offensive trends we have seen in the last 30 years of college football....wishbone...option...pro style...run and shoot...west coast...spread...

January 14, 2008  12:23 PM ET

Exactly. If anyone thinks that Ohio State is going to completely abandon Woody-ball, they need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid...

January 14, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Where is Deleware?

January 14, 2008  01:18 PM ET

As a former Delewarian I can honestly say I have no idea where it is

January 14, 2008  01:28 PM ET

I think the dual threat/spread style might be over bought.

The focus should be on getting a guy who can make a smart decision on the fly, not just take off under pressure. Brady, Manning, Edwards, Farve, Hasselbeck, ect.

The Randle Els, Robinsons, Vicks, aren't the cure all.

January 14, 2008  01:32 PM ET

That being said...it never hurts to have a QB can do it all.

January 14, 2008  01:57 PM ET

I dont think OSU needs to walk away from the running game, but as talented as they are in the backfield opening up the playbook would not be difficult...
Deleware I know for a fact is somewhere between Conotton Valley and Toronto in northeast ohio

I get this feeling that Coach Tressell's Sweaters might be getting alittle tighter these days. Having been blown out by the Gators and now LSU in front of a national audience, Coach Tressell has to be looking to the north and asking himself if the honeymoon is over? It all work so well for so long but times are a changing. Just what would happen "if" the Michigan Wolverines should beat OSU in Rodriguez's first year? Just Curious-

Pryor would fit Rod's scheme "out-of-the-box", as they say, but that's only icing on the cake. Rod's philosophy is to take his "best athlete" and make him the QB. Therefore, his player with the fastest legs, quickest brain/reflexes, and decent-enough arm will be QB. The Vest, it seems, needs a guy with the natural abilities to decide on a quick-read/spread offense. That's also okay, and both approaches will work just fine with the right supporting cast. But, it would seem that Tress NEEDS someone like Pryor to make the change, whereas its a "nice to have" for Rod -- meaning, he'll do it his way with or without Pryor.
