Schwartz, Harbaugh dogged by handshake hype

08:08 AM ET 09.11 | Jim Schwartz and Jim Harbaugh just can't seem to escape The Handshake. [After a Niners-Lions game at Ford Field this past October, the] postgame formality nearly turned into a fistfight between head coaches after a 25-19 victory for the 49ers. But with NBC already hyping Sunday night's nationally televised rematch like a heavyweight bout -- the ill-fated handshake and Schwartz's frothy-mouthed response is a focal point of this week's promo -- the obvious question Monday, of course, was about what we'll see when these two meet again at Candlestick Park. Will it be a cold-fish greeting? Or maybe a stone-cold snub? Or maybe ... "I know everyone's gonna be looking for it," laughed Lions veteran safety Erik Coleman. "And nothing's gonna be there."

Waddaya think? Niners stomp 'em? If Schwartz was unhappy with the game last season, he'll be ready to kill someone after this one.

They should get together ahead of time and coordinate a secrete handshake.

May be the reason they struggled against the Rams.... Busy looking forward to the 9'ers next week.

There were a few between Belichick and Mangina when he coached the Jets that were interesting.

This really makes for good television. Football is entertainment after all. (Man, did you see crazy man Hairbag blowing spit on the sidelines on Sunday? It's like he's going to kill somebody. That's quality entertainment.)

Perhaps, but there's no guarantee it will be the Lions getting spanked. Stafford spent most of last Sunday throwing balls to guys in a white jersey, he should be spot-on this week.

You have to forgive Jim Harbaugh, he's so wound up by the end of the game, he can't see straight, the guy should have been born a spinning top!!!!!

I did see that. The 49'rs better get their SB within the next 2 or 3 years. That kind of psychotic coaching will only last so long with a team before they tune out.

The way the 49ers played, the way the Lions played, maybe they should shake first.

You're going to let your job, responsibility to your family, friends and neighbors interfere with watching the game? What's wrong with you? :-)
