O's interested in Philly's Pierre

Most likely Pierre will not be a Philly next year anyway, so why not get a Double A player for him and dump his salary for the rest of the season.

Go for it O's but don't give up too much.

I'm pretty sure that because the Orioles lost a playoff eligible player to the DL, they can give his playoff eligibility to another player. That could be Pierre.

He can be used as a late inning pinch runner, good idea!!!!

I like that Markakis...very good athlete and a tough guy to lose.

Incorrect. A player has to be on that team's 40-man roster (or on their 60-day DL) by August 31 to be eligible for the playoffs.

Player must be on the 25-man or on one of the inactive lists (disabled, bereavement or suspended) on August 31st to be eligible. The one exception to this is that if you have a player who goes on the 60-day DL, they can be replaced by someone who's already on their 40-man roster...but they have to have been on the 40-man on 8/31. Pierre still wouldn't be eligible.

the baltimore orioles should get help from their own minor league, why would theyt try to go outside and get a expensive player?? juts save some money for next season!!

if indeed markakis has a broken thumb, how can he be back in the deep pre-season??

Wiseup: Juan Pierre can hit and get on base but use him as Dh. he is a liability in outfield. He has no arm and teams has taken an extrabase on him all year knowing he has little chance to throw you out from left field If you need to aquire an outfieler I suggest you look elsewhere. Maybe Cleveland or Minnesota. Maybe either Miami Colorado or Cubs.

thank you--I was wondering about that for the A's, where McCarthy is probably done for the season. They can't trade for a replacement then, and can't call up a random minor-leaguer.

Phillies won't trade Pierre as long s they are in the hunt. As of tonight they are in the hunt.
