08:10 AM ET 09.12 | Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, at least publicly, seems to have little interest in leaving what has been a dispiriting situation in Boston. Asked why fans should hope for a turnaround with him at the helm if he does return to manage the Sox next year, Valentine said simply, "I'm the best man for the job." He then broke into a grin. "Was that a tough question, by the way?" Valentine was asked whether the speculation about his job security had cost him any sleep in recent weeks. "I haven't lost any sleep only because when I get to bed I'm worn out," Valentine said. ... As for whether he thinks he'll be back in 2013, Valentine was direct. "Why wouldn't I think it until I'm told otherwise? This is a continuous question," Valentine said.

Agreed, but the way this organization goes about doing things I'm not so sure.

Don't beg Bobby.....they're not worth it....you were set up to fail right from the start....it'll be a repeat next year with someone else taking the pot shots.....there is an endless supply of excuses in the Boston blame bag they all carry around.....

how exactly was he "set up to fail"?payroll?nodid the GM or Lucchino do anything to undermine his authority?nopray, tell us how he was set up to fail?

He was handed a team full of overpaid primadonnas (that's pre-madonnas for many of you out there). Only management really knows whether Valentine was sent to blow the team up, but they had to know it was a possibility.

He needs to remain in Boston for years if you ask me.
