08:12 AM ET 09.12 | George J. Mitchell's report, clearly, changed the game. But in recent weeks, questions have arisen about why information that might have implicated two of the game's more prominent agents in providing their clients with drugs never made it into the report. The two people Mitchell based much of his report on -- a convicted steroids dealer and a trainer -- have confirmed that they told Mitchell in the course of his investigation that the agents, Sam and Seth Levinson, played a role in helping their clients procure steroids. It is unclear what, if anything, Mitchell and his team of lawyers did with the information about the Levinsons. But the Levinsons, who are brothers, are not named in the report. Several of the players they represented are.

I am guessing that Mitchell's job description from MLB didn't include investigating agents, only investigating players.

Wiseup: A while back I suggested MLB do random drug testing for steroids and other banned substances.. Later I heard a lot of players were in favor of this. The feeling was this would deter further use if there was a greater chance of getting caught. Setup a policy , effective at the start of 2014. If you get caught you are suspended for 162 games. Second time , permanent ban from MLB. Post this notice in club houses next to the one about gambling on baseball.

Rose was banned for gambling even though he always bet on reds to win. The thought that gambling violates the integrity of the game. He didn't pull a 1919 blacksox scandal which was the result of the gambling ban. OK. However taking PHDs is a lot more serious than gambling .When a player takes PHDs it gives a player an unfair advantage by letting a pitcher throw faster or a hitter hit the ball farther. If you get caught you miss 50 games , less than half of a season.
