08:30 AM ET 09.13 | News of Notre Dame's move to the ACC spread quickly through current, former and possibly even future Irish men's basketball players. It was met with agreement from anyone involved in Irish men's hoops that for Notre Dame to take the step from a really good basketball program to the brink of possible greatness, the only place to do it was in the Atlantic Coast Conference. ... A five-star recruit and considered one of the nation's top five point guards, Demetrius Jackson was nearing the end of his decision-making process of choosing among Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan State and Notre Dame. That was before Wednesday's news. ... "It does change my thought process," Jackson said.

"Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan State and Notre Dame. "

Nah, if he were any good he'd be joining 0-6's Wildrats!

FJJ, I thought you said it was a done deal for them to join the B12 and football to follow in a couple of years. What happened?

Norka posted a previous comment FJJ made back in the summer yesterday. It actually referred to the ACC possiblity being in play. I'll try to find it.

Here it is. #103 on yesterday's ND thread.

Remember when you posted this?

"I still think there's time for anything to happen including the ACC to be saved somehow. I doubt B12 does anything before their meetings, Bowlsby first day in office or news about the new BCS structure."

Well good call and LMAO at all the know-it-alls that had the ACC dead in the water, especially that hack Ingram Smith who wrote an article announcing the fall of the conference like it was a done deal with the best teams going to the SEC and Big XII and he was generous enough to offer the scraps to the Big Ten.

Ingram Smith, what a DUNCE CRAFTER!

But will you? Saw FSU refused to agree to the higher exit fees.

For ND it is because their non football was in the Big East so yeah I would say so. Football I don't think so but it will make it easier to get into the playoff.

I agree. ND fits better in the ACC since the B1G is totally out of the question. It does help their other sports. I don't think it elevates their football at all...and as you said, it may give them an easier path to the playoffs when they start. If they happen to draw the five toughest ACC opponents the same year that their "traditional" rivalries are good, it may not be too easy. JMO

SO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MOVING TO THE ACC TAKES ND TO THE "BRINK OF GREATNESS?"

THE BIG EAST HAS BEEN THE BEST BASKETBALL CONFERENCE IN THE COUNTRY AND ND WAS AVERAGE AT BEST.

And rightly so. I think the ACC is our best long term solution, but the leadership is questionable at best. If some things don't change I would be all for leaving the ACC. So I'm glad we are on record objecting to the increased buyout.

So, this kid is considering two B1G schools, twp Big East schools, and one BigXII school....and having ND go to the ACC is the swaying factor? If the ACC is the draw, why is he not considering ACC schools?
