Cameras catch Cutler berating lineman

08:04 AM ET 09.14 | It's just Jay Cutler's luck to have teed up lineman J'Marcus Webb on national television. The Bears quarterback was caught by cameras dressing down Webb on the sidelines of Thursday night's game and even chest-bumping the left tackle after telling him "get your [expletive] head into the game." Cutler couldn't avoid getting sacked by the Packers seven times in the 23-10 loss, and he definitely wasn't avoiding questions about publicly calling out an offensive line that he's taken numerous shots at since last May. "I care about this," Cutler said of the incident with Webb. "This isn't just a hobby for me. If we're not doing things the right way, I'm going to say something."

Keep it in the locker room.

Chicago ought to try and get Teeeeeebooooooow, because Cutler will inplode in the next few weeks.

Da Bobby Lane Syndrome, block for me or hear my Rant!!! Bobby might have thrown him off the field and nailed him on The Bench!!

September 14, 2012  08:14 AM ET

...while all of Chicago was berating him.

"get your [expletive] head into the game."

The expletive began with F. I can lip read that much.

Maybe publicly berating your offensive line isn't always a good idea, but I will give Cutler credit for showing some passion after that play. Unfortunately, when you see him on the sideline, he's looking disinterested, like his head isn't in the game and he really wants to be somewhere else. I suppose he could sign with Southwest and do a "Wanna get away?" ad.

I'd love to see how any of these writers or posters here on FN would react if your offensive line was like Swiss cheese and the the other teams defense was playing jail break on your ass all night....this guy has been going through this crap since he's been in Chicago.....I'd wanna be somewhere else also....

The Bears still suck.

good point. he is the rag doll of the NFL.

Cutler is not only not the player we thought he was, he's not the he thought he was. His performance last night showed he's just a gas-bag egotist who will never realize potential because of his character flaws. And they are many. He got taken to school last night by Rodgers, but you can bet he didn't learn a thing. He really is just an empty can and an a -hole.

Here we go again. A host of bad sports journalists and ignorant fans keep blaming Cutler.
Once you read the stat that he was sacked seven times (not to mention the knock downs, hurry ups, etc.) anyone with half a brain should be able to deduce that this is STILL an offensive line problem.
The Bears organization STILL refuses to admit that they have a talent deficit on their O-line.
If you put Jay Cutler on the Pats or Giants, you have 4,000 passing yards.
If you put Manning or Brady on the Bears, you get what happened last night.
As the Giants have taught the Pats--in TWO Super Bowls now--if we keep knocking your QB on his ass, we win, no matter who he is.
A new offensive scheme is nice--anything is better than Mike Martz's thirty-year-old system-- but that STILL does not negate that football is a game of one-on-one matchups.
If you look at this weeks SI, there's an article on offensive linemen. In the sidebar, they feature Uche Nwaneri of the Jags (1st round pick), Eric Woob of the Bills (!st round pick), Amini Silatolu (2nd Round pick)......and J'Marcus Webb. Seventh round draft pick.
You cannot coach lack of talent. You cannot make a player have more talent by working and working what's not there.
The Bears have come out of a decade where they had the worst GM in football. He virtually ruined whatever potential they had by his incompetence. In picking talent, he was the anti-Belichick.
This is NOT a QB problem. Let me repeat that: This is NOT a quarterback problem. This is a magic thinking problem. A denial problem. Your offensive line stinks and you refuse to admit that your organization made mistakes and you won't do anything about it.
In what looks to be Lovie Smith's last year as coach of the Chicago Bears, expect more of the same. Against lesser quality teams, they will score. Against tougher teams with a good pass rush, expect Cutler to get sacked, hit, and run for his life.

I am tired of all this apologizing for Cutler. The buck stops with his play which was awful last night. And so he takes it out on Webb. It's certainly true that the coaching staff can't scheme and prepare properly: compare Capers' D-plan to Tice's O-plan. How about some screens? Draws? Quick outs? Get the pressure off. The real problem is that Cutler just doesn't get the ball out fast enough. Cutler just isn't the QB everyone thought he was.

Yeah. The story should be about the Green Bay defense. They've been much maligned, and last night they all showed up and proved a point. The coverage was good, too, and Cutler couldn't find anything open and he had to eat the ball on a lot of plays. He's not mobile, and the Packers D were coming around the ends, so he couldn't even scramble and get rid of the ball.

If the Packers D hadn't done such a good job, this thread would have been about how many times the Bears got to Rodgers. They sacked him 5 times.

So what do you do if you have suspect O-line? You compensate by better play-calling *with* a QB who reads defenses and helps the O-coach to make adjustments. Neither Cutler nor Tice adjusted. You can't blame the line for the intercepts. These Bears thought they had it made before that game and it took the Packers to expose the weakness. You think the only problem on that team is the O-line you're an ignorant fan. A really ignorant fan.

sounds like we will continually blame the offensive coordinators...as with Martz the past few years.

DD, the guy threw 4 intercepts. No. 2 might not have been his fault, but No. 3 was and it was brutal. Woodson after the game said: "Jay? He will throw it to you if you just wait." Woodson waited and Jay threw it into his hands. Packers played great D, but good teams compensate. Not the Bears. Never the Bears.
