08:24 AM ET 09.14 | As the old adage goes, players play, and Sidney Crosby is a player. Concussions have limited the Pittsburgh Penguins captain to just 63 games over the past two seasons -- only 22 in 2011-12. With that in mind and a lockout threatening at least the start of the 2012-13 season, he said Thursday he would consider going to Europe to play if the impending lockout looks like it's here to stay. Asked if he was concerned he would be taking a job away from another player, Crosby said, well, no. ... "My opinion would be I'm a hockey player. It's a competitive business. Do I look forward to the opportunity of taking someone's job? No. At the end of the day, I'm a hockey player. I think we all work hard and want to play. I don't see anything wrong with that."

Yeah...like you need to take some poor shulps money and game Sid. Give your head a rest.
Idiot.

I think the more appropriate questions is are you worried about some euro thug taking a cheap shot to make a name for himself and ruining your career

I hope him and Malkin get their careers ended in Europe. You want to play...play in the NHL.
It'll serve all the owners right and the players that opt for playing in other markets. It just might send a message with such a high price to pay to these idiots that "can't" make a business deal.

Even though they are Pens I wouldn't wish injury...especially career ending on anybody. You do bring a valid point lose some league stars and their could be that message. Or with how fickle our populations have become the message may not ring to loudly or for very long

I see your point, though with very few exceptions, I don't want to see anyone's career ended. But i wonder if the owners and their awful commisioner see the ramifications of their actions. I actually wonder if they see beyond the moment.
So what if this happens? Crosby and malkin are done....they're going to fill the building in Pitts. for....Fleury? Cooke?
very short-sighted, which is apropos for this regime

for those that bolt to Europe, replace them.....don't let them come back...move forward...

i can see it already...sid will play in 2 games, get tripped with a no call..start crying about the no call, do something stupid and hack someone and then get his frail skull caved in...career done

Too bad if they get injured. And as far as those teams "protecting" them...Those guys know that once this dispute is resolved it's bye bye birdie. Not the same as playing for their "own" team. They want to risk it...good. A few of these guys go down in the process...it gives both side something to think about for their future stupidity. I have no respect for any of these guys on both sides.
If it were me, I wouldn't like some super spoiled NHL star coming to my team where guys give their all for a reality pay cheque for their families and just a chance to one day play an NHL game themselves...
Super-stars...do what GWG did and form your own team and play exhibition games if you feel the need. Otherwise, play in the NHL and count your blessings.

Not right.

Malkin and Crosby want to stay sharp, and in shape during the time.

Although, I agree it is dumb, and I don't want to see them playing over there, to wish anyone's career to end?

I'm not really limiting this to those two...It goes for all of them. Especially the BIG STARS. BIG my arse...Why don't they just join a midget team so they can skate around everyone and feel good about themselves with end to end rushes and multiple goal games etc...
As they say in the movies guys..."Break a Leg."

They want to stay in shape...then use their influence to put some sanity into the NHLPA...along with the other NHL stars. The owners will always win on a lock-out. They want to stay in shape, rent some ice time in a local arena.
If these guys get hurt playing in anything outside the NHL...unless they intend to continue playing there after this crap is resolved...then too bad if they get hurt. I don't just mean C & M either...they just are a perfect example. Crosby has just dropped on my respect monitor like you have no idea. Malkin, well from him I am not the least bit surprised.

I don't disagree with a lot of your points. Crosby is there now trying to "use his influence."

However, where we disagree, and will always disagree is wishing any hard or career-ending harm on a player. I just simply don't do it, even if it is a Flyer. ;)

Crosby dropped on your respect monitor? Oh, well. Chalk another one on the list.

My opinion on Malkin is that he worked his **** off during the Summer (so did Crosby), and not working on a beer gut like some other players, wants to play, and probably wants to be close to his family (Malkin). My "guess" is that with Malkin it doesn't get more complex than that. It isn't to show disrespect. However, I don't pretend to be in the mind of the players.

But it isn't just the NHLPA, let's look also at the owners here...they are the ones, through the Dwarfus, that have let this get to lockout. Maybe Sid and Ovie and Stamkos and Henrik and Chara, etc. should remind these guys how it is the money gets to them. The problem is, a lot of those guys made the $ in other fields, this isn't the main source of income.

Hence, why the talks of going overseas and playing? I am hoping that is what Sid is doing...trying to call their bluff. Cause if he actually does it...sigh. Dumb-dumb.

Both sides are to blame, and the fans suffer.

And while I see the need to "stay shap", Sid is one of those guys, like the others I named, that doesn't need the $ and doesn't need to be taking a gig from a working guy in Europe
