08:48 AM ET 09.16 | Someone has to break ranks. And on the owners' end, the Rangers have as much incentive as any organization to blaze that trail. Consider: the contract of every Rangers player expires in the next two years, with the exception of Marc Staal (summer 2015), Rick Nash ('18) and Brad Richards ('19). But if the NHL misses an entire season, a year still passes from each player's contract. So while right now Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist, captain Ryan Callahan, Marian Gaborik and Dan Girardi have two more seasons together on Broadway, a canceled season would rob the Rangers of one full year in a potential three-year window to win with its current core that began with last spring's run to the Eastern Conference finals.

This article is just stupid.....all the teams face the same issue on player contracts.
In fact there are some teams that are probably saying "yes...we got a year off that contract"

if ever the fans have a chance to show owners and players who is paying all of these enormous salaries, now is the time..........no season, no fans when it does start back.......in the formula for getting the season started on time, there is no mention of FAN........not imporant in these negotiations...only thing the fan will get is higher ticket prices........totally lost in the negotiations..but, as a fan, should we expect anything different...we, the fan, have put all sports on a higer level than it has ever deserved......

This makes total sense, because Dolan isn't a big market owner, he wants to pay for revenue sharing, and not have the players pay for it. Right. It will be bad enough having a lockout without these stupid articles.
