Fuzzy's advice for Tilghman
Fuzzy Zoeller has advice for Kelly Tilghman. "Just keep smiling and kill people with kindness. And remember, the sun will come up tomorrow," said Zoeller, who 11 years ago experienced a similar career setback as Tilghman, the Golf Channel anchor who was suspended Jan. 9 for making a racially insensitive remark five days earlier during the Round 2 telecast of the Mercedes Championships. "Time heals all wounds," Zoeller said. "I know she's in a tough spot." Tilghman was suspended for two weeks, without pay, for saying during playful banter with analyst Nick Faldo that young players who wanted to challenge Tiger Woods should "lynch him in a back alley."

It seems to me that the racially insensetive people are the ones who make such a big deal about her "remark". When you look at the entire conversation in context it would be a normal comment. I was not raised in the south, and when I thik of "lynching" I think of a western movie, set in the wild west, stringing up someone who doesn't agree with you. An unsavory way of dealing with a stubborn indiviual you can't defeat any other way.
If she just ignores the BS, I'm sure it will go away.

She did not say "SHOULD" did she??? Tell me it's not true. I don't believe it's true. That's probably those rags keeping the story alive after Tiger has moved past it.

I hope that Tiger does not "move past it", but shows strong support for his friend. In the context of the conversation it was a truly innocent comment and Tiger should stand with her.

Fuzzy's comments were way worse because there was NO room for interpretation. This woman's comments were not racist as a rule, but indeed the word "lynch" has strong connotations with post-reconstruction Southern race "relations".

So it was bad judgment I meant to add.

There is too much microscopic interpretation of any comments that are made today. Not everything is as it's made out to be. I do not believe Ms. Tilghman should have been suspended because of her comments because she had no ill intent. Sure the word "lynch" has negative connotations when dealing with civil rights, but that is not the context in which she used it. She apologized for the remarks and Tiger accepted. Nobody else should get involved.

If I may be so bold... perhaps you shouldn't take advice from Fuzzy Zoeller. Just sayin'...

"Lynch" means different things to different people. It may have been a slip of the tongue, but as a commentator on live TV, you got to be smarter than that.

That's one of the fallacies of live t.v. There are no "do-overs." Sometimes comments slip out. I'm sure we've all made dumb comments that we wish we could take back. At least I have.

She gets paid to speak publicly and specifically to not make those kinds of mistakes.
Is she a racist? I sincerely doubt it.
Should she have known better? Obviously.
However I doubt the 72 people who might hve been watching that broadcast were all that offended.

She is not a racist, Tiger said it was nothing, because it was nothing. They are frriends. Rev. Sharpton, read about it in the news paper, did not see it on the golf channel. I guess he had to protect Tiger and the rest of us.

True story. When Rev. Al heard about what was said, his comment was "HE should be fired." Get the facts first Al and then decide whether or not SHE needed to be fired.

This is Fuzzy 'Fried Chicken' we're talking about right? Does he honestly think the public got over those comments after he and the rest of the league had just had their **** handed to them by a teenager? Give me a break, that racist needs to keep his trap shut for the rest of his life and thank the Lord for allowing him to continue making a phenomenal living playing golf. The only advise he's qualified to give is the most efficient means of torching a cross.

I seriously question the pundits who lump Kelly Tilghman's sleight of tongue with the truly insensitive "quip" of Fuzzy's a decade ago. I'm most shocked that the Reverend Al was watching the Golf Channel.

Fuuzy is about as interesting as limp **** and he proved it with spewing a bunch of baloney out of his mouth. What an idiot. Now the lady, she was not being racial and heck - I didn't even see the spot. The way to beat Tiger is for the golfers to take steroids or at the very least multiple B12 injections. I am not saying that he takes steroids or HGH. He is the freak of all freaks....with skills at that game that are so far above and beyond the rest....on a weekly basis. You have to admit that when Tiger is not leading the tournament....that is the story.

According to the golf channel, golf central, the Reverend did not actually hear and see it on the channel, but rather, read about it in the news the next day. Although I do not agree with him on this one, I did on the Don Imus issue. Imus continually insulted people, and it finally caught up with him, but this was just an isolated comment, maybe out of line, but not intentionally bigoted in my opinion. I believe if she and Tiger were out playing golf one day, and she said that to him directly, he would have laughed his arse off. But yes on the air it was not appropriate. But as far as Fuzzy, he is from the old school and old habits die hard.
