Commissioner Pinocchio?

08:20 AM ET 09.17 | Fans need not have long memories to remember the most recent time Gary Bettman presided over a lockout. In accepting the victory over the players in the summer of 2005, Bettman said, "I know the league's future is bright, and this will be to the benefit of the game. We had no choice but to get it right." Bettman also assured fans that having a hard salary cap to control costs would allow many teams to lower ticket prices. Wrong. On average, the cost of NHL tickets has gone up 39 percent since the previous labor agreement. Now commissioner Pinocchio and the flip-flopping owners want a do-over. They now claim the previous labor deal was too generous. Last season the players received 57 percent of the revenue, and the NHL wants to roll that back to 47 percent.

As opposed to Pinocchio, whose nose grew longer with each lie, the Buttgoblin grows shorter with every one of his. I make him to stand about 3'7" now.

Doesn't bode well for the season, but it was good to see the often non-outspoken Zetterberg blast the lil dictator (well, as much as a Swede can blast).
