Trade Tulo?

08:12 AM ET 09.17 | The clock is ticking for Troy Tulowitzki, who just may run out of season before he's able to return at 100 percent -- but another possibility looms. There are already those on Twitter clamoring for the Rockies to trade Tulo, using him to address other needs. MLB Network's Harold Reynolds advanced the notion. There's no indication that the organization is willing to explore that path. ... A more interesting question is whether Tulo would consider switching positions given the reality of how this season has played out. Tulo has won back-to-back Gold Gloves, and his strong cameo notwithstanding, Josh Rutledge lacks Tulo's range. But the Rockies can't contend without their cleanup hitter in the lineup, his absence impacting the defense and Carlos Gonzalez's ability to create more havoc. Tulo's idol, Cal Ripken, moved to third base.

You only think of moving Tulo to third if his range and arm have slow down, but three is the old saying in baseball, your defense starts up the middle , so why would you move the gold glove middle infielder.

He would be an upgrade on defense, from average to above average. Away from Coors he hits 275/347/467--Peralta hits 266/328/428, so not much improvement there. Depending on the cost he would be worth it, but it sounds like The Denver Post is expecting a major haul--I think Detroit would do better to keep Peralta and the haul.

Tulo's idol is Jeter, not Cal. That's why he wears #2

Cool Breeze is correct. Jeter is his idol.
Did anyone see the "Most Valuable Player" discussion back in March/April (MLB channel) about which player is the most valuable/rare on the open market? Tulo won by a landslide due to there being no other elite SS that would command such interest. The point was, you could sign Pujols and someone else could sign Prince. You could sign someone from any other position, & the #2 ranked player wouldn't be that much of a downgrade. But there is a huge gap between Tulo & the #2 ranked shortstop, so it's ironic that trading Tulo is now at least being considered.

The Rockies' pitching staff looks like a Triple A team. **** terrible. Until that is rectified, it does not matter what the team does with Tulo.
