08:12 AM ET 09.17 | Yet again, Bobby Valentine did things his way Sunday. How else to explain the dumbfounding decision to lift shortstop Jose Iglesias in the middle of an at-bat during [a 5-0] loss to the Blue Jays? The game was scoreless in the seventh when Iglesias stepped to the plate against reliever Brandon Lyon with Pedro Ciriaco on first. Iglesias, mired in a 2-for-28 slump since joining the team in August, worked the count to 2-2 as Ciriaco stole second. Out of the dugout came Daniel Nava, a .217 hitter with runners in scoring position. Back to the bench went Iglesias, bat in hand. Nava grounded to first. Wait, what? ... [With the Sox] evaluating Iglesias and his bat for next season, the move defied reason.

Bobby V is trying to demonstrate that he is still managing and that he hasn't "checked out". But changing a hitter in mid-count is overmanaging.

This team needs a major overhaul. A new manager fixes nothing.

wiseup: Bobby V. is doing every thing he can to get fired immediately. That way he wont have to endure the last two weeks.

I'd say shipping $550M worth of contracts to the Dodgers was the beginning, not firing a much-maligned manager.
Then again, I didn't spend my weekend in the clutches of an ether binge, so we probably aren't seeing from things the same perspective.
