Noticeable limp limiting Jeter

08:14 AM ET 09.17 | Derek Jeter's return to short may be delayed beyond Tuesday. In Sunday's fourth inning, Jeter got a late jump going from second to third after Rays left fielder Desmond Jennings lost a Robinson Cano fly ball in the sun, and reported to his manager that "running under control" on that quick burst was "hard for him," according to Girardi. Jeter has been the designated hitter in the four games since suffering a bone bruise in his left foot Wednesday against Boston. ... But Girardi, who previously had hoped Jeter would return to the infield Tuesday night, said he noticed "a little limp" in Jeter's step during the fourth inning and said the Yankees are undecided on whether to give Jeter more time to heal.

He's going to be out there playing unless they tie him to the bench.

Coaches need to make the call for him, because he won't take himself out--and right now, the Yankees are in a dogfight, and they need his bat really badly. So if he can DH, they will run him out and hope for the best.

He's not a kid, this might be his last chance at the World Series, might as well go for it. I respect him for the decision. And I hope Texas or someone beats the Yanks.

Wiseup: The manager makes the lineup not Jeter. If Girardi feels that gimpy Jeter shoudn't play, replace him in lineup. Sure he can DH but he still has to run bases. If on 2nd base, and the next hitter singles, if Jeter has to stay at third because he cu ouldn't score or gety thrown out at home, could cost yankees a win in a close game.
