Oklahoma State forced to scramble at QB

08:17 AM ET 09.17 | Todd Monken takes no issue with the scheduling quirk that gives Oklahoma State a bye both before and after its Big 12 opener against Texas. The Cowboy offensive coordinator's logic was that four games in six weeks would allow an offense with a bevy of young skill players -- most notably, of course, true freshman quarterback Wes Lunt -- additional time to get comfortable before the meat of the season began. Now that first open week before the No. 12 Longhorns come to Stillwater will be used for something different -- to tweak the Cowboys' scheme to cater more to backup QB-turned-emergency starter J.W. Walsh. ... [The exact diagnosis of Lunt's left knee injury] is still unknown. But it's safe to assume that he probably will not be healed in time for the Texas game.

Turns out that when speedy defensive players make a bad read, they can get out of position really fast.
I think we have a bunch of extremely talented kids who are gonna be fine. But it's pretty damn clear we ain't all the way up the learning curve yet.

If you saw the play, looked like Lunt's kneecap was on the side of his knee. Think he's out at least 3-4 weeks

From the stands it looked like, once Hicks went out, the LB's and DB's were out of position

They need to worry more about their defense. They will score some points no matter who is at QB because of their RB's, but geez Zona had cheerleaders running wide open all over the field!

It's good for Okie Lite that they only have one game in the next three weeks. Will give the kid more time to heal without missing any playing time. Although from what I saw, I'd guess he's gonna miss three games, plus no practice during the two bye weeks. How come Okie Lite gets two bye weeks?
As for the team, is this really a major setback? Lunt is a true freshman; do they really lose that much when Walsh is in? I know their styles and strengths are different (pocket passer versus runner), but is Lunt that much better at running the offense?
