Fans losing interest in Anaheim?

08:13 AM ET 09.18 | Though the Angels are in the thick of a playoff race, one might reasonably assume that fans have not yet caught the fever. "Not at all," Angels team president John Carpino said when asked if this year's attendance has been a disappointment, given the offseason investment and anticipation for the season. "We're going to draw over 3 million fans for the 10th straight year." ... But the per-game average to date (37,755) is the lowest it has been during Arte Moreno's tenure as owner, having dropped for the third consecutive season. That average ranks eighth in Major League Baseball. ... The numbers are not down dramatically. But the trends offer a distinct contrast to the excitement of the offseason.

Hard to believe that the Angels and Tigers have the personnel that they have and still not doing too well. I thought they'd be right there at the very top or very nearly so.

this is another joke of an article.....their are 20 teams fans in MLB who have lost interest in this long and tedious season which means basically nothing with 10 teams making the playoffs now.....arguing that watching 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams still in a playoff hunt is a joke.....get rid of the Divisions now....save baseball.....

The divisions are going to stay Sgt., because the owners need the whole 162 games schedule to pay those high salaries and baseball needs the divisions and wild cards to keep interest in the game all season long.

you can keep the 162 games ...just get rid of the divisions....I posted this a while ago....get rid of the divisions just have NL and AL ....keep interleague but everyone plays everyone one series a year alternating year to year which league is the home team...then the remaining games are played equally in your own league...top 4 or 5 in each league make the playoffs.....this way your 162 games mean something...no team gets robbed by playing in a tough division and wins say 10- 15 games more than a lousy division winner etc....the 10 teams who deserve it make it...

Myself, I would like to see alignment more by geographical and time zones. Get rid of the DH and align AL and NL teams in the same division if they are close in proximity.

I say go back to 4 divisions, and you have the Division Winner get a bye, and the 2nd/3rd place teams play a one game playoff. That way every team in each division is playing a balanced schedule. So you would have the Yanks/O's/Rays/Tigers competing for the top 3 in the AL East, and winning the division is a huge advantage not being forced to play in that one game playoff. This would bring the total playoff teams up to 12, but would still reward the 4 division winners making the regular very relevant.

Another year with 3 million fans is a good year. But after they were swept by Oakland they have little chance to catch Baltimore for the final playoff spot.

angels didn't have a serious injuries in the whole season, the pitchers were healthy most of the times, the hitters were healthy and by missing wells ianetta wasn't that big lost this two payers combine can't produce a great help anyways,,,

unless the angels were able to sweep those hard hitters from rangers, unless the halos score 10 runs in every game against the rangers, unless the halos prove me wrong other wise the team is too far as to be a real contender,

when angels can't beat a below 500 % teams as the royals, and the thin offensive team as is the A's, the inconssistant blue jays, or the yankees, even baltimore is a better team than the halos, where is the right thought about the halos been a tough contender??
