Yankees could snub CC in playoffs

08:15 AM ET 09.18 | Andy Pettitte's return may have buoyed the spirits a bit in New York. Joe Girardi laughed off the question posed to him after Sunday's game about whether he might be ready to consider starting Hiroki Kuroda rather than CC Sabathia in Game 1 of a playoff series. The manager's reaction was understandable, considering the Yankees are in a see-saw battle with the Orioles for first place. But the question, in some ways, summed up a sense around the Yankees that the crisis level had dropped dramatically over the course of a couple of days. ... If the big lefty can't find a way to again pitch to his ace-like standards, then the question of who starts Game 1 of the ALDS may be something Girardi will have to consider more seriously.

If they don't pick it up their game they won't have to worry about who to pitch in game 1 of a playoff series.

I figured he would break down sometime during that contract. I just didn't think it would be this quick.

I think C.C. is hurting pretty good but may not actually be injured. But that said I think Girardi is not even close to shuffling the order of a post season pitching rotation. But he'd be wise to consider it. Kuroda has been outperforming CC for a while now.

pitching for 11 years...6 of those with 230+ innings the other 5 high 190's ......maybe now he'll start to get serious about getting in shape....

Might not even be an issue. This is a sub .500 team for a long time now. But yes, CC should be snubbed if it came to that. But he won't be, Girardi does not go out on any limb.

;pOn another note, I can't believe my Phillies STILL have a chance to get into the postseason with that heinous, injury-riddled first half they had.

BSL.....Bud Selig League ...you gotta love it....I think everyone should make the playoffs right from the start of the season and then have a 162 game playoff format......

Hey, they are Turkey burgers........

....if the yanks win the wild card and play the angels....they are toast....if they win the division and play the white sox....they are toast...yanks well on their way to returning to the pre-steroid inglorious days of 70's and 80's....
