Scherzer may be forced to miss a start

08:10 AM ET 09.19 | Not at all lost in the high note of Miguel Cabrera's 40th home run -- a grand slam, no less -- was the Tuesday night loss of Max Scherzer, who left the game in the bottom of the second inning. Scherzer, the American League leader in strikeouts with 224, had an MRI during the game for right shoulder fatigue. The team announced that the MRI showed no structural damage and Scherzer would not throw for two days before being re-evaluated. "I noticed it in the first inning, but I didn't have any pain in my shoulder," Scherzer said. "My arm was dead." ... If Scherzer, arguably the team's best pitcher the last month, should have to miss a start, left-hander Drew Smyly would likely be the substitute starter.

Bad, bad, bad news for the Tigers. Scherzer has been better than even Verlander the 2nd half of the season. I am not pleased with this news.

With two weeks to go a very hard decision for the Tigers to make, do we want to push the kid, do we think we are still in it, or do we need to shut him down for next year.

Miggy has actually done a good job slimming and keeping the weight off. Prince, on the other hand... well, just ask Alex Avila about that.

Looks like Miguel is on his way to possibly being the first triple crown winner since Yaz back in '67 and an MVP type year. He just gets better and better as the season goes along.

I am afraid this is the final straw for the Tigers. All that is left is to enjoy Cabrera's run at the triple crown. I hope he gets it.

Seems so, barring a ChiSox collapse.
Yogi -- he's only 4 HRs off the pace. It just might happen.
