Key Texas recruit fighting battle of the bulge

08:18 AM ET 09.19 | Believe it or not, the college basketball season is approaching, which for Texas means a Nov. 9 opener against Fresno State and time running out for Cam Ridley. [Ridley] has lost 15 pounds since enrolling at Texas in early June. He said that's not nearly enough. The 6-foot-9 Ridley -- the jewel of coach Rick Barnes' recruiting class -- said he came in at 305 pounds. He's at 290 now -- 20 pounds heavier than his desired weight. Ridley's weight has fluctuated since his arrival. He spent the summer working out with strength coach Todd Wright, sometimes at 6 a.m. They had company, including freshman Javan Felix, a 5-10 point guard who arrived at 203 pounds, weighs 190 now and hopes to lose a few more.
