What's up with the bow ties, AJ McCarron?

08:18 AM ET 09.19 | Football and bow ties don't often mix, unless, apparently, you are AJ McCarron. [McCarron] showed up for the Tide's opener at Cowboys Stadium with a blue bow tie. He wore a pink-and-white checked bow tie before the home opener against Western Kentucky. How many bow ties does he have? "I'm actually getting more and more," McCarron said. ... "I wanted to try something different. Actually, my mom and everybody in my family, that's what they got me for my birthday. I really didn't get to choose what I got. They all got me that. It's definitely been pretty cool, though." Does he have a favorite? "I just got a bunch of new ones," McCarron said. "I got a breast cancer bow tie and then a leukemia colored bow tie. I got a bunch of cool ones that we'll see."

I've had the opportunity to talk to E Gordon Gee several times. He is quite personable, and can speak intelligently on many topics...obviously, college football is not one of them. He had done a tremendous job on moving tOSU up the rankings in many important facets....he has helped to increase the requirements to get into the school, he has helped to increase the grant moneys being allocated to tOSU in many research fields, he has helped to increase the standings of the Hospital, etc, etc, etc.
(but he needs to shut up about football.)
