08:16 AM ET 09.20 | For his part, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona says he's enjoying his current job as a television analyst, but the game may call him back. [Francona] figures to be a hot name as a managerial candidate this winter, and his name is already making the rounds in insider circles as a possibility to manage either Detroit or Cleveland, if either of those teams should have an opening. Realistically, there's a good chance Francona's name will be connected to most teams where there's even a hint of change in the air. The one team that can be ruled out is the Red Sox, who seem certain to make a change one year after firing Francona; neither Francona nor Boston's bosses is probably ready for a reunion.

Francona stepped into a great situation when the Red Sox hired him being they were just an inning away from a possible world series appearance the previous year. His time with the Phillies was not as successful and I just don't think he is a guy that will do great things with a bad team.

The chatter is really heating up about him heading to the D. I'm still ambivalent about him... he's got two rings to prove he's at least a decent coach, but I'd like to see how Leyland finishes the year off first.

Why not? How many times did The Boss bring back Billy Martin? Like twelve or something?!

He interviewed for the Cards job last year, so I think he is thinking about a NL job instead, maybe Marlins or Rockies.

Based on one interview a year ago, you think he's heading to the NL? I know this is all conjecture, but that's a mighty stretch. His success has been in the AL, and I'd expect him to stay there... if even even wants to take a managing job.

So it would seem.
It's been very quiet around here.

Tito would be foolish to come back to the Sox Unless they laid a lot of Gold and freedom from above in his hands. However, the owners of the team are too bull headed to realize that he was one of the very best managers the sox ever had.

I LIKE football, but some of the regular posters are unsavory types that I don't care to converse with.

Seems like he'd be a good fit for Cleveland if he wants to get back into managing. Although his current gig is pretty sweet though.
