Hundreds camping for Madness tickets at Kentucky

08:21 AM ET 09.20 | Big Blue Madness may be more than three weeks away, but fan madness has already taken root at Kentucky. In an annual and growing phenomenon, Wildcat basketball fans started setting up camp around UK's Memorial Coliseum at 7 a.m. Wednesday and will stay there until Saturday morning's distribution of free tickets to the team's first public practice on Oct. 12. UK dictates when the campout can officially begin at the arena, but several ambitious fans got started Tuesday afternoon across the street. By 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, 425 tents were already up, the school said. Last year's Big Blue Madness campout, which set an all-time record with 570 tents, had 398 up by 4 p.m. the first day.
