Because if you could pick the one Ram who most enjoys the "lawless country" (as one teammate put it) that is Replacement Refs football, it would be Finnegan. "They just let you play football," said Finnegan, his voice hoarse from a Sunday spent yelling encouragement to teammates and -- dare we say -- trash-talking opponents. "They let you play football out there, and that's one of those things you enjoy." In that sense, Finnegan is a throwback player caught on a 21st century gridiron. "I admire the old-school players," he said.

What I've seen from these replacements is that they won't let them play football. I see more crap that shouldn't be called than non-calls of actual fouls.

From what I've seen, I think the replacement refs have benefitted defensive secondaries most. A lot of illegal contact is just not getting called. Finnegan is on to something.

Explain that to the Titans' secondary. They are horrific. Robert Johnson will NEVER be beaten deep. He plays 40 yards off the ball.

He's nothing but a punk and should be glad Hines Ward retired because he used to get clocked by him every game.
Would love to see some team run a 3 play series of USC 'esque power sweeps and have a couple lineman bury him until he had to be dragged off the field.

It would appear that we've been watching a different league, based on what I've seen.
But, in fact, we're just watching different games, and more important, different crews of replacement refs. When one crew is not calling anything, and another crew is making up fantasy fouls, it's really confusing to fans, players and coaches alike.

IMO, it was a clean hit. It was very physical, but he didn't hit the guy in the head and he didn't hit him with his helmet. It was more about Lee getting caught off guard than anything else.

Finnegan may be a jerk, but he's totally right. For those who liked old-school football when you could actually bump the receiver, the new get-away-with-illegal contact defenses is refreshing. Just wish the replacements would get the rest of the calls right.
