Will Santonio Holmes lobby for more Tim Tebow?

10:43 AM ET 09.23 | Jets receiver Santonio Holmes is off to a slow start with seven catches for 96 yards and one touchdown in two games. He's not had a 100-yard game in his last 24 games, eight games longer than his previous longest stretch. So we'll see how long he continues to defend quarterback Mark Sanchez if his numbers don't improve. He might be the first Jet to jump on the Tim Tebow bandwagon. Holmes says he is not defined by the catches. "I honestly don't think it reflects anything about me as a receiver because my job is to do what I can to help the team win ballgames," he said. "Whether I catch one pass for 13 yards, whether I catch nine for 1,000 yards, it really doesn't matter." The Jets are not paying him this kind of money for pedestrian numbers.

Santonio has to learn how to catch a football, he's terrible!! He probably would have been cut if he played for The Giants! Talk about a guy with a big mouth and no skills!

Look, lets all be honest here. Make all the Sanchize jokes you want, the fact that a washed up never-was like San Antonio Holmes is the best receiver he has ever thrown to...and by a lot...should immediate exonerate Sanchez for 50% of his woes throughout his career.

Every other decent QB in the league has one dependable, steady 1000 yard guy and usually one quick-read guy to count on. He gets Holmes and Braylon Edwards, perhaps the two worst "great" receivers in history.

September 23, 2012  11:04 AM ET

Okay...maybe not the Browns, but....

September 23, 2012  11:04 AM ET

Well, I suppose if it would make a Jets huddle a kinder, gentler place to be, then sure, why not? With a team leader and voice like Santonio Holmes, then what team wouldn't listen to what he has to say?

September 23, 2012  11:11 AM ET

Holmes on the Tebow wagon? Right 'tonio got right with jebus and wants to be on the field with his brother in christ

Exactly...

He should be worried about his own game... Plenty there to keep him busy...

No skills? His SB XLIII MVP award says otherwise. OhNo Holmes is a knucklehead but when he wants to he can still play some football.

Don Hutson, Raymond Berry and Jerry Rice couldn't turn this guy into an elite QB.

Now this comment I totally agree with.............Santonio is a SB MVP and performed at the highest level when it was needed so for anyone to suggest that he's washed up and a bad reciever, well lets just say, you can't rely on their account of what it takes to win. To also suggest that those clowns "Sanchise" & "Tebrow" are quality QB's, well lets just say thats another bad joke.

Sanchez is a pretty good quarterback and can win in the playoffs.

It's New York Dole.

When you win you're the greatest of all time, when you lose you're a bum.
