08:10 AM ET 09.24 | Fear not, Mavs nation. Dirk Nowitzki has some encouraging words for Mavericks fans who might be, at best, unenthusiastic about the team going into the season and, at worst, downright jaded. First, he's not the least bit disheartened by the moves -- or lack of marquee moves -- the Mavericks made this summer. In fact, he's encouraged about the possibilities with training camp opening this week. Second, and more important, Nowitzki feels wonderful physically. ... "I tried to keep in shape all summer long so that it would not be hard to pick up my usual training routine," Nowitzki said in an email interview. "I feel great. My knees feel fine, and that's important. I am ready to go."

What he didn't say is, "we'll struggle to be a .500 team, and the playoffs are probably out of the question."

QUOTE(#7):

Yes but Cuban saved a buck or two building a Frankenstein team from the graveyard of other teams.

Exactly. The chemistry won't be there for the first third of the season, they will miss J Kidd's leadership and ability to be a floor general, they'll miss the Jet's scoring off the bench and Dirk is a year older. It's going to be a long season in Dallas.

Its a cold world out there on the NBA's Western landscape. Mavs may be a 8 seed if one of those other players step up. Brand anyone

I don't know.....seems like he has carried worse teams to 50 wins.I think they make the playoffs, but they'll be a 1st round exit

Possible, but highly doubtful.

We'll be fine... so will our team.

They won't be a top 5 seed in the east-
Nuggets are still better than them-
Clippers & Wolves made better moves than them-
They can no longer beat the lakers-
Truly a 1 & done team-

Time Waits For No One, Bro.

An entirely different group of guys. I don't believe the same results will come as it did with Jason Terry and the players that did not resign or were not resigned. I don't believe that the players acquired this off-season is a good mix.
