Irish courting quarterback controversy

08:26 AM ET 09.24 | The record speaks volumes, but there's a subtext to that spotless ledger after four games. Tommy Rees has been deployed twice as Everett Golson's safety net twice this year, and both times, he's guided Notre Dame to a victory. But make no mistake: Rees isn't taking the No. 1 job from Golson any time soon. Golson, however, has a short leash. "We're 4-0, so I'd say that having Tommy in there the two times that he did play, if you measure it from that standpoint, it's worked out okay," coach Brian Kelly said Sunday. ... "You want to go with one quarterback, but we have a freshman quarterback who's experiencing being a young quarterback. (If) I can prop him up with a veteran to win a football game because we're in this to win it, then we'll do that.

Very confusing. Golson is your #1, but to win games you bring in your #2. Shouldn't Rees be the starter then???

So does the 2 QB's = no QB's equation work for ND too?

They're 4-0 using the 2 QBs this way. If and when it goes south on them, then we can criticize it.

Sigh... We were a 10-2 team with a drunk Nun playing QB last year. Tommy directly lead to 3 losses.

I've seen a lot of teams lately that having a drunk Nun at QB would be an improvement.

I'm pretty sure Dantonio would give one a try. Can any of the Sister catch the ball? 'Cause we could use some help with that too.

Get him Van.

Yeah, all this talk about Nuns and Sisters may get Van stirred up.

Hope to see some losses come your way, Irish. Your fool of a coach who give the reins to a freshman QB and although he is struggling you play him but want a veteran QB to come in and save his bacon. Kelley must have promised the job to Golson to get him to come to ND. Promises made in the heat of the night are not always good,

A win over Meechigan is like a win over Arkansas. It was supposed to be a big deal before the season. Now.........not so much.
