He's fast, strong, agile and dangerous, but every once in a while -- too often in crucial spots -- he leaves the football behind. As he did Sunday against Atlanta as the Chargers appeared primed to go in for a score that probably would have given them a 7-6 lead. ... Chargers coach Norv Turner, whose neck is in a tight enough noose without this folderol, believes Mathews can be cured of his buttery grip. In the meantime, as he said in his Monday dealings with the media, there will be spots where Mathews won't be playing. "There are certain situations where we will limit his exposure," Norv said.

I love the San Diego Charger ride. Everyone keeps talking about them being a power and jumping on their bandwagon, only to bail out the second they see the "single play" that sums up San Diego's repeated and baffling collapses year after year.
Get a grip, people. They lost the game 27-3. Ryan Mathews isn't the reason why they lost. Golden boy Phillip Rivers tossed two interceptions. Their defense got pushed around. They lost because they were no where near as good as Atlanta.

wiseup: After Mon. nights game in Seattle, any thing can happen. Who knows maybe its San Diego turn, to havbe a ref blow a last play call in Chargers favor. If a RB can't hold onto ball, he hurts team. you bench him for a while and try someone else.

Wiseup: It is a shame that to many games this season have been decided buy an official on last play of games. Goodell should bite the bullet and give in to refs and get them back on field. The replacements are honestly trying to do their best but are way out of their league. The Longer this goes on the more leverage the refs have. I hate to see teams playoff hopes go down drain because of blown calls late in games.The integrity of the season is at stake.
