08:12 AM ET 09.25 | Et tu, James? With Lakers training camp only eight days away, I talked with former Laker James Worthy for insight into this year's team. Worthy is also an analyst with Time Warner Cable SportsNet. [Q:] Is there anything specific that leaves you tentative about this year's team? "There's nothing in particular that leaves me tentative. It's just from my experience, it's there anytime you bring in new aspects of the team." ... [Q:] What about the Miami Heat? "I would have to say Miami still has a little edge simply because they won last year. It will be so much easier for them to win again. ... Then they also have the greatest player in the game with LeBron James. I give them the edge because they're defending champions.

He's right though...
The champs are the champs til they are bounced

Defending champs are always the favored...

Unless they're from Dallas that is!

The season has yet to begin, so why not give the edge to the defending champs. But pre-season predictions as to who will be in the title game are always iffy at best.

James Worthy has a new job and is beginning to talk too much! James Worthy knows much to well where his true colors are (Lakers). James Worthy knows that when the Lakers take the floor with a full and healthy team, that the Lakers will run the table.

Don't know why but I'm having a real hard time naming the defending NBA champs.

Kobe is anther year older and definitely slower. Pau was never nimble to begin with and he's gottel slower as well. Ron Artest or whatever the heck his name will be tomorrow, is declining rapidly.
Dwight is coming off of a major surgery PLUS now he's playing for a big market where all lights are on him ALL the time. We shall see if the cry baby can handle the pressure cooker atmosphere and still produce, and accept being a no.3 (behind Kobe and Nash).

Elsewhere, Miami has just reloaded with Allen ( I don't think he'll be as effective, but still) and the big-3 will be playing with lesser burden on their shoulders.
Miami has ALL the advantage. I don't see anyone beating them, or coming close to!!!

Lmao!I want you guys to have a 2peat.You are the only hope to stop the Mighty, Mighty Lakers.

Yup.
but non heat fans especially laker HOFers need not hype up the heat.

I think chemistry takes time. I wouldn't just schedule that championship parade in LA yet. I don't like Miami, and I don't think they are consistently as good as they dispayed in game 6 of the playoffs. The same shots they missed all year suddenly began to go in, and Mike Miller and Battier shoot 80%. But...until someone beats them, they're the champs...PERIOD
