Pressure mounting on Millsap

08:13 AM ET 09.25 | Even veterans have make-or-break seasons, which is why the weight on Paul Millsap's shoulders will soon become much heavier. The lingering but unlikely possibility of a multiyear contract extension with the Jazz. An old-school, winner-take-all position battle with Derrick Favors, as the duo compete during training camp for the right to be named Utah's starting power forward once the 2012-13 regular season begins. A looming entryway into free agency, which could allow Millsap to command the largest payday of his career next July. ... With camp just one week away and the most important season of his basketball life about to kick in, an undersized athlete who's continually proved doubters wrong is ready for a new fight.

Milsap will be fine. Derrick Favors just isn't that good, in my opinion. He's a bust.

Milsap would be fine in a situation where he didn't have to be "the man." Unfortunately, that can't happen in Utah. He'll be disappointed in July, and probably move on to greener pastures.

Kid is improving drastically... this will be his 3rd year in the league and he just needs to be somewhere where he can get minutes... Calling him a bust is ridiculous..

He was the #3 pick in the draft. He was on the Nets! Minutes were there for him. He just wasn't/isn't good enough. The opportunities have been there for him and he hasn't made the most of them. He hasn't even averaged 10 points a game.

He wasn't shown the floor in his rookie year in New Jersey and got traded to Utah before he had any opportunity to show what he can do.. He get's traded to a team that has Millsap and Al Jefferson and get's no floor time unless they're in foul trouble.... dude still has barely any game experience...

He's a good player,but I don't see him getting a monster contract.

Ummm Mr. JGB you do realize this is the NBA right? You've seen how many HORRENDOUS contracts are given to marginal players...LOL!!

Sad but true...the one thing (besides too many teams in the league) that I hate about my beloved 'Association'
