08:22 AM ET 09.25 | And then there were six. To expedite the process in choosing the site of the national title game on Jan. 12, 2015 that will crown the champion of the Football Bowl Subdivision's first playoff, only six cities will be considered, sources told ESPN on Monday. The four current BCS bowls -- the Fiesta in Glendale, Ariz., Orange in Miami, Sugar in New Orleans and Rose in Pasadena, Calif. -- along with the Cotton (Arlington, Texas) and Chick-fil-A (Atlanta) bowls will be the only sites that will have the opportunity to host the 2015 title game. The BCS commissioners originally planned to open the bidding to any city interested in submitting a request for proposal for the title game.

Why not open it up? No one wants to go to Indianapolis or Detroit in January?

Or any other time of the year.

My guess is they already know where it will be played. All the other bidders are being used to drive up the price and give the appearance of objectivity.

Probably.

Why not? Didn't have much to say yesterday.

Lets see...four locations in SEC country and two in PAC-12 country....seems fair for "play-offs." What a crock of horse hockey!!!

At least they didn't have a site in Connecticut selected!

Yeah, I got back from taking the grandkid back to Fort Worth and saw nearly 300 posts on one thread. Too lazy to read that...what the hell was up?

Ohio State is spending money on other things besides lobbying for this.

Hey now...you can't blame the SEC or PAC12 for that. The B10 helped create the Rose Bowl. The B10 could have just as easily created a bowl in Detroit or Chicago on January 1st as the "GrandDaddy of them all".

And not 4 in SEC country. Atlanta is just as much ACC as SEC (GT, Clemson, FSU). Miami is mostly ACC (Miami). And the Cotton Bowl is more B12 than SEC (however, aTm is now an SEC school).

1st game will be in Jerry's Stadium...book it...

One does not build a billion dollar stadium then get out bid.

If it's just about money, it's going to Jerryworld.
