07:55 AM ET 09.26 | Among Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s many interests, the NASCAR racer is also is an NFL fan. [Earnhardt is] a diehard Washington Redskins supporter who also plays in several fantasy football leagues and watches the league religiously. So it isn't surprising that Earnhardt had an opinion on the replacement ref controversy that reared up Monday night after the final play of the Green Bay-Seattle game. "It's not quite working," Earnhardt said Tuesday of the replacement refs. "I think some action needs to be taken to shore up an agreement with the refs to where we can bring them back. This season has a little asterisk next to it. It's kind of stained in a way that's irreparable. It's frustrating to see this happen."

QUOTE(#7):

in all honesty, he's just the messenger.

That's because he's a weak POS. Rozelle or Tagliabue would have gotten this done before pre-season.

It may be that the owners hired Goofdell precisely because he's a do-nothing bozo. But, when you look back at the heritage of League commissioners, Goofdell is clearly at the bottom of the list.

If this is the best Charlotte fans can get for NFL coverage, they should move this team to L.A.

It doesn't matter if the ratings go up or down, the contract to televise this years NFL games has been signed and already paid for.

QUOTE(#14):

perhaps he is a yes man for the owners, he won't be the last.

You're probably right. Maybe, though, when all the stupid stuff starts reducing the popularity of the game, they'll realize that they need someone who's a bit more than a water boy to run the League.

They're having trouble filling seats in some cities even now, although they've raised prices enough that they haven't seen a revenue decrease. But, each time they lose fans it's going to hurt.

I think the big challenge over the next decade will be at the high school level, where schools are going to start dropping programs for cost and liability reasons. Parents will be pulling their sons out of football out of concern for concussions, too. When the talent pool starts to dry up, the game is going to deteriorate.

Ratings Matter, more than the well being or integrity of the Game, That's what it's all about, more Money!

Good call on the Spam at post #15, mods. Seriously.

Hey, you guys doing anything Sunday afternoon? We need someone who can make the right call.

This is what happens when professional, educated, skilled, able, well paid union workers are replaced with amateur scabs who lack the skills, knowledge, and abilities to officiate in the NFL. It's the privatization of officiating.

With any luck at all the Choirboy will fall on this sword and at last, we'll be rid of that POS.
