08:11 AM ET 09.26 | The Michigan-Notre Dame series is apparently coming to an abrupt end, and fingers were pointed quickly on Tuesday. Contrary to the indications Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick gave the Free Press after Saturday's 13-6 Notre Dame win over U-M in South Bend, Ind., a Michigan official said [Tuesday] that the Fighting Irish are opting out of the series as soon as they can: following the 2014 matchup. The current contract states that a three-year notice is required to withdraw from the series. Michigan received a letter before Saturday night's game regarding Notre Dame's intention to cancel the scheduled games in 2015-17. ... [Said Brady Hoke:] "My reaction is Notre Dame made a decision and it's not our decision."

ND has to end it's series with Mich. It hurts there SOS in the same way it hurts ULM's SOS playing Arky.

I am so tired of reading and talking about ND! Just go away!

QUOTE(#8):

Probably everything. They've said they want to keep USC, Stanford, Army, Navy I believe. Everyone else is up for grabs.

I think ND agreed to play x number of games (5?) against ACC teams as well..

The only teams they say they want to definately keep on the schedule
is USC, Stanford & Navy. They have to play 5 ACC teams starting in
2014 so this move is just a free up of the schedule and a wait and see
how they can formulate their schedules starting in 2014. Michigan will
be back in the fold, just not as often as in the past. Of the three B10
teams they play regularly Mich.St. Purdue and Michigan, those games
all time games played are like 84, 64, and 40 respectfully. So Michigan
is low man on the pole as fas as all time series.

The 3 year break in the series was set to happen in 2018 but with the move to play 3 road games in the ACC and keep the rival with USC the Irish must choose between Michigan and Purdue.
Purdue being the instate rival of course.

Interesting that ND did not cancel their series with Purdue or Mich St? Do they plan to continue those series rather than a Michigan series? Are they trying to downgrade their strength of schedule?

September 26, 2012  09:35 AM ET

If ND doesn't mater? Why all the fuss?? Go back and Play Appalachian State again! WE ARE ND!!!

People worry too much about what Notre Dame does. Screw Notre Dame which is a dump school in Indiana let me repeat a dump in INDIANA. Michigan matters more ND anyway.

And the state of Michigan is...... bankrupt and filled with unemployment!! Idiot!
