Michigan State's biggest concern

08:12 AM ET 09.26 | The mood of Mark Dantonio, who lasted all of three minutes in Saturday's postgame presser, may have improved, but the Spartans still have issues. On Tuesday, [Dantonio] was asked which part of his team has the biggest room for improvement as the Big Ten season begins this week. He said the passing game, which might have been the understatement of the season. The Spartans don't have awful numbers -- they are fourth in the Big Ten in passing offense (229 yards) -- but that doesn't exactly tell the story. ... Against Notre Dame, the receivers dropped seven passes. Against Eastern Michigan, the receivers dropped six passes. And in both games, junior Bennie Fowler -- the elder statesman of the group -- couldn't hang on to a pass in the end zone.

Sounds like Dantonio needs to use this strategy.

Not that I wish it, but I think Michigan St wins against Ohio St this weekend. It could be another 13-6 final given both team's limited offensive capabilities. If there are turn overs the score could be higher.

A 3 minute presser shows their problem. Even Lane gets it done in 28 seconds. slow slow slow

Dantonio used the questions to give various units/players on his team one sentence critiques. e.g. "why did you replace Nick Hill with Bell for punt returns?" answer: "Because he fumbled the ball, next question." The whole presser went that way. Some in the media were upset, but most understood what Dantonio was doing.

I would love to see Sparty run the score up on the Liar's Club this week, but the problem with Sparty for the last 40 years is you don't know which team you are going to get from week to week. The team that beat a top 10 school one week and then loses to Indiana the following week?

If, and it's a B1G if, they can find a quarterback and some receivers.

If I were the Buckeye D-backs coach, I'd have them send some "message hits" early and often to put some fear into those MSU WR's minds. Would pay dividends late in the game.

And for anybody wondering, I am condoning clean, legal activity here, not cheap shots or headhunting.

MSU has no offense ... if they get something that resembles a quarterback it would help.
