08:02 AM ET 09.27 | It was Panthers center Ryan Kalil who caused a stir before the season by taking out a newspaper ad in Charlotte predicting a Super Bowl title. Since then the Panthers have started 1-2, including a 36-7 drubbing at home from the New York Giants, and wide receiver Steve Smith publicly criticized quarterback Cam Newton for sulking. Now the Panthers have to face the Falcons (3-0) Sunday at the Georgia Dome. But Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis doesn't see any of that as a reason that Kalil's prediction can't still be accurate. "We've got a goal in mind," said Davis, the former Georgia Bulldogs star. "Ryan Kalil said it best: 'We are going to win the Super Bowl.' We still believe that wholeheartedly."

You might want to concentrate on winning this weak division first, Mr. Davis.

And - judging from the Dirty Bird's nice start, you have some serious catching up to do.

I mis-read the article there. I thought it read that they thought they'd win the Super Bowl. I'll get back to you after I re-read it.

This is a young team with a lot to learn. Maybe in a year or two they will be a contender, but right now they just need to learn how to hang with the big boys.
