08:14 AM ET 09.28 | Even if Bobby Valentine hasn't heard from the Red Sox about his future, it seems the front office has discussed it. General manager Ben Cherington admitted as much [Thursday] during an appearance on WEEI, when he told the Herald's Gerry Callahan and co-host John Dennis that he has met recently with principal owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and president Larry Lucchino to discuss "how we got here and why some mistakes were made." ... And regardless of how you interpret Cherington's strictly literal comment about wanting to "spend less time" this offseason resolving the managerial position, there have been other, stronger indications that Valentine will be replaced after only one season.

I heard several people call in to the radio this morning insisting that Valentine will be coming back next year. I didn't realize brain damage was contagious.

Ownership has an easy decision; if Valentine stays the fans leave--what would you do?
