08:17 AM ET 09.28 | At present, Angels righty Dan Haren has a playoff race to worry about, leaving the matter of his status -- the team must decide whether to pick up a $15.5M option -- for another day. Haren said he was annoyed this weekend after an MLB.com report in which "a source familiar with the team's thinking" intimated the Angels would cut ties with both Haren and right-hander Ervin Santana -- who has a $13 million option for next season -- and focus their efforts on re-signing free-agent right-hander Zack Greinke. "Whatever source familiar with the Angels' thinking said it, I think it was probably dumb timing for them to say something," Haren said. ... "I think the last thing myself or Ervin are thinking about is our status for next year."

With your sub par season my question to you Dan is, would you take a pay cut to stay with the Angels next year or go somewhere else. The answer is simple I need more security for my family and my greedy shelf.

I suspect he meant the last thing he or Santana NEED to be thinking about is next year. And it was dumb for the source to float that information to the papers, unless the source was trying to sabotage the Angles slim chances of making the playoffs by distracting and distressing 2/5 of their starting rotation.

Players typically let their agents negotiate so that they can concentrate on baseball. This rumor could be part of a negotiation strategy by management, that was just something they said to get the agent to make a lower offer. Putting it out in public just creates hard feelings between the player and the team. Doing that while the season is in progress is just plain dumb.

tough question for haren, santana, morales, because we all know all this players can play the game at higher level is just the did run through a rough times in this 2012 season,,, plus the offense in angels lineup has to do alot with santana and haren loses as a starters,,,

the angels are trying very hard to play their best games in the whole season, but could it be a little too late to reach the playoffs berth?? i mean why wait untill the last game of the season?? one lose and good bye hopes,,,,, as everybody can see it there is no room for mistaskes in the angels team,,,,,

i think the media or whoever brought up this issue were very much improfessional if not anything else, though dan haren and santana had been playing their best games in the whole season,,,,,

angels need a miracle to happen,,, the A's would need to stop the rangers in order for the halos to walk into the playoffs berth,, but can this unexpect thing happen??

with five more games left to play,,, mike trout could hit at least one more homerun than trumbo's rookie season,,,
